Station House, Lewdown
The re-creation of a Victorian station house and associated buildings as a new-build replacement for the compromised and dilapidated original.
Situated on the Tavistock-Launceston branch of the Great Western Railway, the original station was a victim of the Beeching closures. The new station house was based upon the design of other station buildings found elsewhere on the line, and utilised traditional detailing including cut and keyed stone arches and window dressings, and decorative timber bargeboards.
The works also included the reconstruction and restoration of the former engine house, platform and station canopies.
