The practice was formed in 1992, when Victoria Scarratt and Gordon Martyn joined the long-established office of sole practitioner Anne Scarratt.
Based initially in the South Hams of Devon, before relocating to the Tavistock area, Scarratt and Martyn has built upon Anne’s reputation for quality design work and professionalism.
The partners continue to promote imaginative design solutions, personally tailored to meet each client’s needs. Our clients find us friendly and approachable, and enjoy the reassurance of knowing their project is safe in the hands of experienced chartered architects.

We realise that for most of our clients a building project is one of the most important and potentially stressful things they have ever undertaken. But it needn’t be an angst-ridden process. From the outset, one of our experienced directors will work with you to make sure the whole design journey becomes a pleasure.
We’ll return calls promptly, quote accurately, fix fees in advance, advise knowledgably, consult often and deliver on our promises – all in a friendly, honest and down-to-earth manner.
To further minimise your stress, we can help you with as much or as little of the project process as you require. We can liaise with your Local Authority, conduct or manage required surveys, select and source materials, design your interiors, even negotiate with your neighbours.
We’ll also work closely with your chosen builder or with tradespeople we can specially appoint and manage for you, to make sure there are no bombshells along the way.
